Youth Sworn in as Citizens of Boys Town New York

Boys Town New York youths Jose, Maliek, Francis, Armando and Shdell were sworn in as citizens of Boys Town by Father Steven Boes, President and National Executive Director, on November 17.

The ceremony, a long-standing tradition marking the beginning of a youth’s journey at Boys Town, took place at the Boys Town New York Passages Academy. The youth talked about their goals for the future at Boys Town and what they needed to work on to improve their lives at home.

“The youth have an understanding that the journey has just begun, and they are making steps in the right direction to change,” said Damian Kinsey, Passages Academy Shelter Shift Supervisor. “Each youth was able to reflect and learn more about the history of Boys Town and what it truly means to be a citizen.”
