September Social a Success for Boys Town New York

More than 75 young professionals enjoyed an evening of mingling and networking while learning about Boys Town New York and how they could help further the organization’s mission.

The September 16 event hosted by the Young Leadership Committee, gave the group “an understanding of who Boys Town serves, what they do and how they do it,” said Dana Moskowitz, the Young Leadership Committee chair.

The Young Leadership Committee is a newly-founded group of individuals who attended last year’s Building Hope Gala and were moved to action by the Boys Town New York youth who spoke at the event. Since then, the group has attended other Boys Town events and visited the organization to meet the kids.

“The Young Leadership Committee was established by committed professionals who were touched by Boys Town’s cause and acknowledged a need to build greater awareness of Boys Town in New York City, especially amongst their peers,” said Karen Brady, Boys Town New York Development Director.

Young Leadership Committee members tapped into their own networks to invite other young professionals in New York City to the September Social. Proceeds from the evening will go to Boys Town New York and be used to support its life-changing services for children and families.

The Young Leadership Committee’s first event was not only successful in raising funds for Boys Town New York, but Moskowitz believes it was also extremely successful in increasing awareness and involvement amongst the young Manhattan professionals for the organization.

“Many of the attendees are genuinely interested in joining the Young Leadership Committee and volunteering their time to Boys Town New York,” said Moskowitz.
