Grillin’ and Chillin’ at Boys Town New York

Boys Town New York’s Young Leadership Committee (YLC) successfully raised $5,000 at their “Grillin’ and Chillin’” event October 20. The fundraiser was held at Southern Hospitality, a barbecue restaurant on New York City’s Upper East Side, and featured tasty appetizers, beverages and a variety of highly sought after raffle prizes.

Almost 90 Boys Town New York supporters attended the event to socialize and enter the raffle for a chance to win a $300 American Express gift card, a tour and sit-in of a One Life to Live taping, a Michael Kors handbag, tickets to a New York Rangers game and other impressive prizes. “Everyone had a great time,” said Gene Gallagher, Boys Town New York Development Director. “Events like this are great because they engage a new group of people to become familiar with Boys Town and its programs.”

"We were very pleased with the event's turn out and everyone's enthusiasm for Boys Town,” said Doug Meyer, YLC Grillin’ and Chillin’ Event Chair and Vice President at Sovereign/Santander Bank. “The event was a complete success and the Young Leadership Committee is looking forward to raising funds and awareness through similar events in 2012."

The YLC is a group of young professionals, between the ages of 21 and 40 years old, committed to furthering the goals of Boys Town New York through philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy. The committee was started by Dana Moskowitz, the daughter of Boys Town New York Board Member Ira Fishman, in 2009. The group started out with 11 members and has quickly grown to 19 members, who have raised more than $20,000 for Boys Town New York in the past three years.
