Boys Town Passages Academy’s New Student Body President

And the winner is…everyone!

When Boys Town New York youths Shdell and Armando decided to run for student body president at their school, Boys Town Passages Academy, they both made another decision as well – to support each other.

The youths came together and decided that no matter what the outcome was, that they were going to maintain being good role models and support each other and their school,” said Boys Town New York Development Director, Gene Gallagher.

During the three-week campaign process, each candidate put together an electoral team and worked to get their messages out. Both candidates participated in a debate, addressing all of the students and faculty members to gain their support. Then it was time to cast the votes.

In the end, Armando was named the new student body president and Shdell the vice president.

“Although the youths were on opposite sides, they managed to be good role models to each other, and demonstrated excellent leadership qualities,” said Gallagher. “Both gentlemen will continue to work together, helping their fellow youths, building relationships and values to strengthen body, mind and spirit, all in the Boys Town way.”
