Sardella’s Hosts Pizza Party, Seeks to Raise Community Awareness
Boys Town New England youth received a winter surprise when Sardella’s and Nickolas Pizza teamed up to give them a pasta and pizza party!
Richard Sardella, owner of Sardella’s and former mayor of Newport, knew the boys and girls had some downtime between school semesters and wanted to give them something to look forward to. He not only provided the location of the party at his restaurant, but he also brought in a magician and had an ice cream bar for the kids.
“The kids really enjoyed it and had a wonderful time,” said Debra Sharpe, Boys Town New England Development Director. “It was great for them to get out and have something to do over school break and we are so appreciative for all Richard and his staff did.”
The appreciation was not lost on Sardella’s owner and staff, who had nothing but positive things to say about the party. “A lot of the kids had never been to restaurant, except McDonald’s, in their entire lives,” explained Sardella. “They were very well-behaved and came up to my staff and I multiple times to say thank you… We definitely want to stay involved and do all we can for these kids.”
Sardella also wants to make sure that the community is aware of the vital services Boys Town New England provides. “They do a service that if we don’t help support, will fall by the wayside. We need to help out as much as we can to make sure that needy youngsters in our community are receiving help from this vital resource.”
