Boys Town New England Opens New Foster Home
Each day, children in New England are victims of abuse and neglect. They encounter dangerous living conditions at home, financial problems and even the lingering effects of natural disasters, leaving them in need of a safe place to live. Boys Town New England is addressing this need with the installation of a professional foster home on the Bazarsky campus.
As part of Boys Town New England Foster Family ServicesSM, this professional home can accommodate up to five foster care youth at a time, while community-based foster care usually takes no more than two youth per home. Boys Town Foster Parents care for the children while a permanent placement is sought.
“This professional foster home can accept youth on an emergency basis,” explains Bill Reardon, Boys Town New England Executive Director. “There is such a need for that type of care right now in our community as the state continues to phase out shelters that were previously fulfilling this emergency need.”
Boys Town New England Foster Family ServicesSM is a community-based program where professionally trained Foster Parents provide care and support to children of all ages, infancy through adolescents. Foster Parents receive 24/7 support from Boys Town professionals.
