“Beantown Meets Boys Town” Event Connects Boston Community
Twenty-four Boston community members enjoyed mingling with Boys Town staff at Boys Town New England’s “Beantown Meets Boys Town” event November 3 at the UMass Club.
The complimentary meet-and-greet party was open to the public, allowing the Boston community to meet key members of Boys Town New England and learn more about Boys Town’s history.
“The idea is to introduce Boys Town to a new audience and try to get some traction in Boston,” said Debra Sharpe, Boys Town New England Development Director.
The event also allowed Boys Town to further highlight its presence in Massachusetts, presenting its programs and sharing strategic plans to expand as guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
Bill Reardon, Boys Town New England Executive Director, shed light on Boys Town’s services and programs, highlighting Boys Town’s four-star Charity Navigator rating and history of excellent stewardship with donor dollars.
Guests also met three board members and Steven Romine, the incoming Chair of the Boys Town New England board. Romine shared stories about why he first came to Boys Town and about his service in a leadership position.
Sharpe said guests stayed longer than expected, enjoying the beautiful venue that overlooked the Boston harbor and the camaraderie of the small group setting. Due to the event’s success, she said, Boys Town New England is already discussing hosting a few similar events next year.
“The best part of the evening was the one-on-one time we had with the guests, some who were just being introduced to Boys Town,” Sharpe said. “We were really able to get around and talk to everyone. It is a great way to thank donors and introduce a new audience to Boys Town.”
