NASCAR driver and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch took a timeout from his busy racing schedule last month to surprise more than 60 Boys Town Nevada youth and staff with a catered dinner, NASCAR tickets for the weekend and a healthy dose of inspiration.

Busch, along with Crew Chief Dave Rogers and representatives of M&Ms and Toyota, dined with the children for more than two hours Feb. 26 before signing autographs and speaking about the importance of working hard to achieve your goals in life.

“I’m excited to be here tonight with all of you,” said Busch. “I chose to support this organization because I believe in the work Boys Town does. It feels good to be able to give something back to my hometown.”

Known for his brash moves on the track, Busch won more than 20 NASCAR races last year, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Off the track, though, Busch has been dedicated to brightening the lives of needy children nationwide. “In the eyes of our children, he’s a hero,” said Tom Waite, Boys Town Nevada Executive Director.

“Meeting Kyle Busch was such an awesome experience,” said Shelly, a 15-year-old Boys Town Nevada youth. “He actually ate dinner at my table and talked about racing and growing up in Las Vegas. It was definitely something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

“It’s such an honor for Boys Town Nevada to be associated with NASCAR star Kyle Busch,” said Waite. “It’s amazing that he’s concerned not only with racing, but with making a difference in the lives of less- fortunate youth. It’s rare to find individuals of his age with such a genuine passion for philanthropy. Of all the places Kyle could be during NASCAR weekend, he chose to spend Friday night having dinner with our kids.”

The Kyle Busch Foundation has partnered with Boys Town Nevada since 2007. Each holiday season, Busch has quietly helped provide Christmas presents for the children, and throughout the year, has given clothing and financial support. “Whatever the need, Kyle has always been there, asking nothing in return,” Waite said.
