Blue Water Bash is a Success for Boys Town

Summer is filled with fond memories of long days at the lake soaking in the sun for many children. Due to the continued support of many, Boys Town has been able to provide this experience to their youth for many years through Boys Town Camp Okoboji. To help make sure this experience remains a reality Boys Town Nebraska/Iowa hosted the fourth annual “Blue Water Bash” on July 18 to raise funds for the renovation of the camp.

The “Blue Water Bash” event brought together nearly 100 guests as well as Boys Town families and youth who served as tour guides throughout the night. The event had a silent and live auction and Boys Town Nebraska/Iowa Family-Teacher Tony Jones, Boys Town alum, spoke to the guests about his fun time attending Camp Okoboji as a student. Guests then danced the night away to Fever and the Funkhouse Band.

The funds raised at this event will be used to support the renovation of the exterior of the building which includes new siding and windows. Many of the guests spoke highly of Boys Town’s mission and were very impressed with the social skills of the youths attending.

Once again, the “Blue Water Bash” was a great success and will help ensure that Boys Town Camp Okoboji will thrive for many years to come. “Many Boys Town kids have not experienced camp or family vacations,” said Father Steven Boes, Boys Town National Executive director. “Lake Okoboji is such a great experience for them and an opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime.”
