45 Designs for Boys Town Commemorative Coins Under Review

This article is written by Joseph Morton, Omaha World-Herald . It was published on Omaha.com on March 15, 2016.

A key advisory committee will consider designs today for new Boys Town commemorative coins.

Last year, Congress authorized the U.S. Mint to produce a series of coins commemorating Boys Town’s 100th anniversary in 2017.

Revenues from the sale of the coin first will go to cover the cost of production.

The organization, which focuses on at-risk youth, plans to use any money it receives from the sale of the coins to provide services to young people in high-need communities.

The Mint is producing $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins and half-dollar coins. The treasury secretary makes the final call on coin designs, but first they are reviewed by various experts and representatives of the public.

You can review the coin designs at the link below.
