UCF Cornerstone Project

Youth Benefit from UCF Students’ Business Savvy

Boys Town Central Florida youth have visited Sea World, basked in the sun at Daytona Beach and conquered the Rope Swing Adventure Course at the Ritz-Carlton thanks to business savvy University of Central Florida (UCF) students enrolled in the University’s Cornerstone Course taught by College of Business Faculty and Boys Town Central Florida Board of Director Lauryn DeGeorge.

A hands-on professional skill development class, the Cornerstone Course involves a semester-long service learning project addressing a need in the community. As a top nonprofit in Central Florida, it’s no surprise that these UCF “social entrepreneurs” have been partnering with Boys Town Central Florida for the past several years.

The partnership between the UCF Cornerstone Course Students and Boys Town Central Florida is tremendously positive for both parties. “The UCF students are very much involved with our youth and the youth love working with UCF,” said Terry Knox, Boys Town Central Florida Development Director. “Some of the Cornerstone Students have come from a similar background and are a great example to our youth. They learn so much.”
