Help on the End of the Line
When Claire was lonely, scared, and just needed to talk, she dialed the Boys Town National Hotline.
"I think about the other people who might really be hurting, really be in pain and for them I am grateful for your program," she wrote in a letter to the Hotline.
Every year, thousands of callers just like Claire, find help on the other end of the line at the Boys Town National Hotline. Last year, nearly 500,000 callers dialed in, needing to talk about depression, anger, parenting concerns, suicide thoughts, loneliness or bullying. In more than 30,000 of those calls from kids, counselors intervened to either save their life or provide therapeutic counseling.
"We talk to parents who have lost control in their teenager's lives, people with drug dependencies, kids that have been abused, people so depressed that they want to end their life," said Ginny Gohr, Director of the National Hotline. "These callers benefited from a phone call."
Call the Boys Town National Hotline at 1-800-448-3000 to speak with a trained crisis counselor about any problem, any time, because you don't have to face your problems alone
Hi,
My name is Claire. Earlier today, about 1 or 2 a.m., I spoke with I believe his name was Stan. Forgive me, I was tired and I just don?t remember.
But I wanted to say thanks for your helpline. Usually I am not the type to call helplines in the middle of the night. I have friends, a great family, a content life and I am not suicidal. But last night I was lonely and feeling overwhelmed with the recent medical findings. I just needed a friend to talk to. And you guys were there. I think about the other people who might really be hurting, really be in pain, and for them I am grateful for your program. Thanks for being there and you can count on my donation this year around Christmas time.
God bless you guys!

Hotline manager,
I would like to thank Marcus. I really appreciate his help in saving my life. Without him, I might not be here today. I felt he really went out on a limb to help me. Please let him know that I am doing well.
Thank you!

Dear Boys Town National Hotline,
Enclosed in this card is a donation to say thank you. My husband and I have had a crisis situation on our hands the past year to year and a half and we have had to make many calls to the Hotline. Jordon was our angel who answered the first time and it has been through his guidance, care and knowledge, with the support of the other Hotline angels, that have helped us survive our rocky road. We truly appreciate everyone and thank you for being there for families like us. You are all wonderful and we truly want to let you know how you have helped us.
Sincerely,
John and Kathy B. |
Boys Town Hotline,
I want to say thank you! Abby provided me with encouragement and hope to get through a difficult night a while ago. She kept me from taking my own life. I am forever grateful and enjoying life again!
