I am a strong supporter, advocate and believer in the Boys Town Education Model.SM We have been implementing the Specialized Classroom Management (SCM) model in our Transition Classrooms (for EBD students) for a few years now. I believe that Transition Classrooms that use the pure SCM model are more effective classrooms behaviorally and academically.

We also just completed the first phase of a district initiative to train and implement the (Boys Town) Well-Managed Schools model in all of our district middle schools and high schools. So far, we have trained one middle school campus in the WMC model with mostly positive feedback up to this point. I predict continued success with the initiative as we continue to train more campuses.

We provide educational services to students with severe emotional disturbance, autism, mental retardation and other developmental disabilities through age 21, and expelled and adjudicated youth in grades 6-12. We have provided the (Boys Town) Well-Managed Schools and Teaching Social Skills to Youth training in our schools for at least five years.

Staff and students are very positive about the positive changes made this year with full implementation. We feel very positive that it will result in students returning to their home campuses with the skills necessary for success.

I strongly recommend the training with a commitment to full and consistent implementation.
