Orlando Magic Youth Fund “Drafts” Boys Town Central Florida
Boys Town Central Florida received a $50,000 donation from the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF), a McCormick Foundation Fund, at an All-Star Team “draft” event January 19.
The Orlando Magic Youth Fund gathered 19 recipients of their 2011 grants to the Orlando Amway Center, where they “drafted” them into the OMYF All-Star Team. In the spirit of an NBA draft, each organization received an OMYF jersey or specialty basketball as well as checks totaling $1 million. Later, the organizations were honored at halftime during the Orlando Magic versus Philadelphia 76ers game.
The donation will allow Boys Town Central Florida to focus on increasing services in the community, as well as impact the lives of children in the Treatment Family Home and Intervention and Assessment programs. Last year, the OMYF provided Boys Town Central Florida families with game tickets and a shopping spree for 60 children.
Greg Zbylut, Boys Town Central Florida Executive Director, accepted the grant on the site’s behalf. “The Orlando Magic Youth Fund is passionate about its community, and it’s very apparent that they embrace the opportunity to make a difference,” said Zbylut. “Foundations like these reinforce for our staff and children that we are in this together.”
