Community Christmas Activities Bring Cheer!

Boys Town Central Florida celebrated Christmas with not just one, but three festive events. The site held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting, 5k Candy Cane Run, and Santa Motor Run, all of which featured a very special guest.

At the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the band Rhythm and Blues played and the tree was officially lit by none other than the man himself – Santa Claus. Other special guests included the Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary (DCF) David E. Wilkins, DCF Regional Manager Susan Vitale, members of U.S Representative Sandy Adams’ team and U. S. Senator Marco Rubio. After the ceremony, light refreshments and campus tours were available.

A few days later at the Winter Springs Town Center, Santa was back at Boys Town Central Florida for the fifth annual 5k Candy Cane Run. He greeted and cheered on all the 543 runners who participated in the 5k and kid dash. Cory Skeates, President, Oviedo/Winter Springs Chamber provided the musical themes that exercised the runners to do their best.

Yesterday Santa made another appearance at Boys Town Central Florida. Instead of arriving by flying sleigh and reindeer, as usual, he caught a ride with the motor officers of the Seminole County police departments.
