  • Cynthia Armijo

  • As Executive Director, Cynthia strongly believes in the Boys Town New York mission to serve children in need. As a mother of three, she appreciates that family life sometimes requires the support of outside individuals. Cynthia also serves on the Advisory Board of The New York Department of Youth and Family Justice.

    She came to Boys Town from the YMCA of Norwalk where she served for nearly two years as their Chief Executive Officer. Her professional career began in the corporate world in financial services, where she held the positions of Senior Vice President and Director of Technical Research at Standard & Poors, Vice President of Content at Soundview Investment Bank, and National Campaign Manager at Franklin Templeton Investments. Cynthia has worked with non-profits for over twenty years including Sisters of Mercy Burlingame, Mercy High School San Francisco, New Conservatory Theatre Company and American Heart Association – San Francisco Chapter. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from San Francisco State University.

  • Alvin Sinckler

  • Alvin joined Boys Town New York in July 2006 and has 17 years of experience in Finance and Administration. He began his finance career in 1997 with TLC Beatrice International Holdings Inc. While at TLC Beatrice, he was promoted to Accounting & Finance Manager. He also has experience as a Financial Analyst for a marketing company and as a Senior Accountant for a cancer testing company.  In 2004, he joined Bear Stearns Securities Corporation as an Operations Manager for International Control.  Prior to his finance career, he worked for the United Nations Facilities Management Service.  Alvin received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Management & Finance from Brooklyn College, City University of New York and is currently in pursuit of a Master’s of Science Degree from Columbia University in New York.

  • Gene Gallagher

  • Gene brings more than 25 years of fundraising and donor relations experience to Boys Town New York. As Development Director, he looks to build long-term relationships with donors and collaborations with corporations and foundations committed to children and families in New York City.

    He received a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at New Paltz and resides on Long Island with his wife, Laura, and their three sons and daughter. Gene has worked previously at other non-profits including Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, St. Mary’s Foundation for Children, Episcopal Charities of Long Island, and the Diocese of Rockville Centre, as well as a private consulting firm.

  • Jon Jelley

  • Jon oversees all Residential Programs and Common Sense Parenting as Program Operations Manager. He has been with Boys Town New York since November 2011 after 10 years of service for Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.

    Jon started as a Family Teacher with his wife, Kara, in 1998. The two worked with both boys and girls for over 5 years. In 2006, Jon was accepted in the Administrative Training Program and became a Clinical Specialist overseeing Treatment Family Homes. He then moved to the Nebraska In-Home Family Services department at the beginning of 2011 before his move to Boys Town New York.

    Jon was born in the United Kingdom and was a police officer for 6 years before joining Boys Town. He has a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a Master’s degree in Youth and Family Services.

  • Elaine Madlangbayan

  • Elaine joined Boys Town of Southern California in June 2000 as a Case Management Specialist at the Intervention and Assessment Center for boys in Los Angeles, with subsequent promotions to In-Home Family Services Coordinator in Orange County, Program Director for the Intervention and Assessment Center for girls in Compton and then to her current position as the Program Operations Manager of Boys Town New York in February 2011. In this position, Elaine is responsible for the management of staff and support to each of the Boys Town New York In-Home Family Programs in accordance with Federal, State and local requirements; contracting requirements; Boys Town policies and procedures; accreditation standards; training and staff development needs; and ensuring the assessment and implementation of quality management activities.

    Elaine received her Master’s degree in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

  • Karen Andrade

    Program Support Services Coordinator | Email

  • Karen Pereira de Andrade brings over 16 years of experience of direct and administrative experience in social services to her role as Program Support Services Coordinator, including program start-up and expansion. Karen was hired as a clinical therapist for Boys Town New York in 2004. In 2006, she was promoted to Program Director for one of the New York Non-Secure Detention programs. Karen was then promoted to serve as the Program Support Services Coordinator, a quality management position.

    Karen has experience as a pre-school teacher, research analyst and social worker in India. She was a Project Manager/Coordinator for a national emergency services organization for at-risk children and youth. She has also worked for the United Nations preparing articles and workshops for Non-Governmental Organizations. Karen received her Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from New School University, New York in 2003, and has a Master’s of Social Work from Bombay University.
