Picnic Celebrates Families

Boys Town Louisiana youth, Board Members and staff celebrated all families with a Family Fun Picnic June 4.

Smoke from the grill filled the air as youth and adults spent a fun afternoon playing games and meeting new people. While feasting on BBQ, crawfish, hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad and cake, the crowd listened as the Board Chair, John Zollinger, said a few words to recognize the families of Boys Town Louisiana.

Boys Town Louisiana youth aren’t blue about going back to school this year thanks to a few recent activities preparing them for the upcoming academic year.
Nearly 50 Boys Town youth and friends gathered at Boys Town Louisiana’s Gretna Home for an inspirational message from locally-known, “Dr. Truth.”

“Dr. Truth let them know that it’s what’s in their head that’s important, not what’s on their head or what they’re wearing,” said Deborah Lewis, Boys Town Louisiana In-Home Family Consultant.

Reopening of Home Brings Hope and Bright Future to Louisiana

More than 150 people gathered at Boys Town Louisiana’s Bienville Home to celebrate a long-awaited sign of rebuilding – the reopening of the home since Hurricane Katrina damaged it five years earlier.

The home served as a place of hope for the many children who came through its doors for the residential program. Now it can once more fulfill its purpose for children.

Boys Town Receives Wise Giving Accreditation from BBB

Better Business BureauThe Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance has named Boys Town, a nonprofit organization working to save children and heal families locally and across the country, as a 2009 BBB Wise Giving Alliance Accredited Charity.

Boys Town Louisiana Children Build Kayak and Self-Confidence

Boys Town Louisiana youth Michael and Craig do their part in building the kayak. Family-Teachers Herman and Yvonne Clayton used the project to teach the boys in their home how hard work and perserverance helps you succeed in life.

Michael came to Boys Town Louisiana full of anxiety and uncertainty. But that all changed with the building of a single kayak.
