Boys Town Central Florida received a $50,000 donation from the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF), a McCormick Foundation Fund, at an All-Star Team “draft” event January 19.
Palm Tree Lighting Brings Christmas Spirit
They may not have had a lot of pine trees around, but that didn’t stop Boys Town Central Florida from kicking off their holiday festivities with a palm tree lighting ceremony Sunday, December 5 at their Demetree campus.
A tradition they started the same year their residential program was established in 1986, you could say Boys Town Central Florida is a pro when it comes to tree lighting. Each year has been special, and this year was no different.
Wings of Hope Helps Central Florida Youth through Dinner & Auction
For 15 years, the Wings of Hope Foundation has been advancing the Boys Town mission of saving children and healing families through its annual dinner and auction. This year’s event held Saturday, October 2 was another success, raising more than $50,000 for Boys Town Central Florida.
Through their annual event, Wings of Hope also supports two other organizations in addition to Boys Town Central Florida - Intervention Services, Orange County and Children's Home Society, Volusia County.
Boys Town Central Florida Youth has Experience of a Lifetime
Bright and early Sunday, September 17, 2010 Boys Town Central Florida youth, Johnny, and his Family-Teacher, Chad Patten, headed to Reunions Resort and Golf Course for the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation’s Championship for Charity Golf Tournament.
Johnny, having never seen a golf course before, described the course as “the Sahara Desert if it were green.” But Johnny and Chad didn’t head to the golf course for an early morning round of golf - they were there to represent Boys Town Central Florida.
Orlando Sentinel Family Fund Awards $20,000 to Boys Town
Boys Town Florida – Central Region is the proud recipient of a $20,000 grant from the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation. The grant will be utilized for the care of children in the Treatment Family Homes, as well as those receiving emergency services in the Intervention and Assessment Center.

Youth are Running to Reach Goals
Boys Town Central Florida youth are gaining endurance for running – and life - through the Stepping Onward organization.
Each Sunday, Dr. Claire Grove, founder of Stepping Onward, and fellow volunteers visit Boys Town Central Florida to talk to the youth about topics like nutrition, exercising and stretching, before going on a short run. The Stepping Onward group has also developed a training program that helps youth to track their goals and progress.

In what is becoming an annual tradition, the Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund (OMYF-MFF), in a surprise ceremony on Wednesday, January 18 at the Amway Center, announced its OMYF All-Star Team presenting checks totaling $1 million to 19 grantee organizations from three counties in Central Florida (Orange, Seminole and Osceola). This is the second consecutive year the OMYF has presented checks totaling $1 million.
