Boys Town California Recognizes Honorees with Lively Celebration

More than 300 volunteers, supporters and dignitaries gathered at the Fairmont Newport Beach Hotel October 3 for Boys Town California’s “Flight of Hope” Gala for a lively Moroccan-themed event benefiting the children and families receiving care from Boys Town California.

The evening’s festivities also honored the UPS Corporation, Marianne and Ken Higdon, Dan Graham and Cathy Chapman. These individuals and the UPS Corporation have given their time, talent and resources in support of the Boys Town California mission. “‘We are excited to honor these award recipients,” said Teresa Dinh, Boys Town California Associate Development Director. “Their vision, leadership and spirit of volunteerism have made a tremendous impact on the lives of the children and families of Boys Town California.”

The evening began with the silent auction, followed by an invocation from Father Steven Boes, and a few words from Keith Rhodes, Boys Town California Executive Director. The highlight of the evening came with some involvement from both past and present Boys Town youth. Phillip Nguyen, a Boys Town California graduate, shared his testimonial with the attendees and Isaiah, a younger resident in one of the Treatment Family Homes, assisted in the live auction. The night was complete with the awards ceremony, Moroccan cuisine, music, dancing and of course, a snake charmer.

“This year’s ‘Flight of Hope’ Gala exceeded all expectations,” said Rhodes. “It was another great opportunity for Boys Town of California to tell our outstanding story on how we are changing the way America cares for its children and families.”
