Renewal in New Orleans

We have a lot to celebrate at Boys Town with the recent reopening of one of our homes – the Bienville House in New Orleans – that was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Through the perseverance of our dedicated staff at Boys Town Louisiana and the support of the New Orleans community, children will have the renewed opportunity to build brighter futures.

I was able to travel to New Orleans to participate in the reopening event and I was reminded once again of the city’s tremendous spirit of ongoing renewal and rebirth. I’m proud that Boys Town is participating in this renewal and that the reopening of the Beneville House signals the rebirth of countless young lives for years to come.

It’s certainly appropriate that these outward signs of renewal coincide with the Easter season, a time when we look for renewal from within. Easter is our wake-up call to focus on rebuilding and renewing our relationship with God.

The people of New Orleans are breathing new life into their city, Boys Town is breathing new life into the futures of children and we should each reflect on how we can breathe new life into ourselves.

God’s Blessings,
