Programs for Girls Scouts!

Dive into the past and discover the Village of Boys Town’s rich heritage!

Learn how Boys Town was founded back in 1917 by an Irish immigrant priest, Father Edward J. Flanagan, and still continues to help at-risk youth and families today. Programs will include a tour of the campus with stops at the Hall of History Museum, Father Flanagan’s House, the Dowd Chapel and Father Flanagan’s Shrine.

Daisies and Brownies:

  • Rose Petal: Make the World a Better Place: Find out how Father Flanagan made a difference in the lives of many children.
  • Listening to the Past: When you listen to the past, what will you hear?  Come listen to the stories of Boys Town and find out how children have been cared for through the years. Troops will earn the Listening to the Past Try-It Badge.


Juniors:

  • Local Lore: Every town has a story... and people and events that helped make it what it is today. Find out what makes Boys Town a very special and unique community. Troops will earn the Local Lore Badge.


Cadettes and Seniors:

      Troops can choose from two programs or do both:

  • Museum Mysteries: This program provides an opportunity for girls to begin work towards their Museum Discovery Interest Project. Along with the general history tour of Boys Town, troops will get a behind scene tour of the Hall of History museum.
  • Studio 2B Focus: Take Charge: Learn about Boys Town cutting-edge treatment and care for America’s at-risk youth and families. Along with the general history tour of Boys Town, girls will also visit the hotline and learn how our counselors provide help to at-risk youth and families and how they come into our care. Program will help girls meet some of their goals for Take Charge.

Cost

Tour are free, however, there is a suggested donation of $1 per person. Girls can also receive a unique patch for each level completed! Patches can be purchased for $1 per person.

Picnic/Lunch

Your group can enjoy a picnic on the grounds surrounding our lake (weather permitting and permission required), eat a sack lunch in our Fieldhouse, or sit down for a hot meal in our Visitors Center Café.

Souvenir Bags

A souvenir bag is a wonderful way for your group to remember their visit. Girls can take away special mementos about Boys Town. We recommend that you pre-order souvenir bags so they’re ready to hand out at the end of your visit. Click here to order yours now!
