Boys Town of Washington D.C.Washington, D.C. Youth Engaged in Celebration Event

A small celebration at Boys Town Washington, D.C. for Boys Town 90th Anniversary was the perfect way to involve those living Father Flanagan's dream - the youth.

Holiday season décor reflecting the cheery mood of the 90th Anniversary greeted staff, youth, donors and board members as they were welcomed by Peter Vogel, Boys Town USA Regional Director. Remembering the rich history behind Father Flanagan's Boys Home and how the organization has grown throughout the past 90 years, another reason to celebrate was revealed.

The group gasped in excitement before breaking out into cheers when the organization's new brand was revealed. The new image and tagline, "Boys Town, Saving Children, Healing Families" more accurately represents those finding help through Father Flanagan's mission.

"The overall response was very positive," said Vogel. "Staff and kids alike stated they really liked the new name and that families were represented in the tag line."

Youth were not only exposed to the revitalized image, but were able to ask questions as to why the name change and receive answers right away in an engaging question and answer session.

The 90th Anniversary celebration and the new logo provided an opportunity for the youth to realize the benefit this organization has on children, a point Gwen Sanders, Common Sense Parenting Coordinator and 11-year employee, emphasized. "For many of these kids, it has been a very difficult and challenging world," said Sanders. "It's so important for us to remind them how much they can give back to the community."
