South Florida Children find Hope for the Holidays
Gift baskets in hand, Boys Town South Florida delivered Hope for the Holidays to more than 400 children and families in need.
"Seeing the smiles on their faces reminds us that this is what Christmas is all about," said Amy Simpson, Boys Town South Florida Site Director about the annual event Dec. 18 which provides bikes, toys and holiday cheer for children whose families would otherwise be unable to provide Christmas gifts. "The spirit of giving and providing a helping hand for those in need helps us all share the meaning of this special holiday season."
Nearly 50 sixth graders from Trinity Christian Academy helped the South Florida site assemble bicycles and wrap many of the gifts. Volunteers from Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department also sponsored a family with nine children and delivered many of the Hope for the Holidays gifts on their motorcycles.
"We want to say a big 'thank you' to everyone in the community who gave donations or helped us in this event in any way," said Simpson. "Together, we can fulfill Father Flanagan's mission to change the way America cares for her at-risk children and families, and provide a Merry Christmas for all."
Special thanks to our sponsors Wackenhut Services, Inc., in Palm Beach Gardens, the GEO Group, Children's Services Council, Anderson-Moore Construction, Bomar Industries, First United Methodist Church, Plastec and SV Microwave.
