Boys Town of South Florida
Best-Selling Author Speaks to
Benefit Boys Town Children and Families
Tim Madigan, best-selling author of “I’m Proud of You” and “The Burning,” spoke at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Jupiter, Fla., on June 8, to benefit Boys Town South Florida.
Madigan spoke about life lessons learned from his friend and children’s television icon, Mister Rogers. Madigan first met Fred Rogers while working as a reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. His latest book, “I’m Proud of You”, is a memoir of the pair’s friendship.
“Tim spoke about how working with Fred Rogers changed him as a person,” said Noemi Coltea, Boys Town South Florida Development Director. “One of the qualities Fred Rogers had was that he was the same person on stage or on the camera as he was in his personal life and that really impressed Mr. Madigan.”
The event raised $800 for Boys Town South Florida. All of the proceeds will aid Boys Town programs benefitting the lives of neglected and abused children in South Florida.
