Fifteen Boys Town California graduates celebrated their success at the Residential Family Services Aftercare Program Luau.

Graduates Inspire a New Generation

Alumni and current students celebrated their achievements overcoming adversity at a summer kickoff luau complete with authentic Hawaiian food and decorations.  The event was an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their Boys Town family, and for current kids to hear positive messages from alumni who had been in their shoes.

“We wanted our current kids to see the impact their achievements at Boys Town today can have on their future,” said Neda Zaengle, Boys Town California Program Operations Manager.  “Sometimes it’s easier to see that through former kids who are successful.  Our Aftercare youth and, even more importantly, our current kids walked away knowing that they will always be a part of our family”.

Many program graduates took time to speak to current Boys Town youth about how the organization has positively impacted their lives, including how they continue to find help by networking with fellow alumni and utilizing the Boys Town California Aftercare Program. They also expressed their gratitude for the skills they learned from their Family-Teachers while in the program. 

Through the Aftercare Program and Boys Town Alumni Association, many graduates find the resources they need to get a job or get back on their feet during difficult times.  The event was attended by Kendall Mosley, Boys Town California board member and was made possible by the support received from the Jim and Robin McInnis Scholarship and Aftercare Fund.
