Residential Family Services: Help, Healing and Hope Family Style
Should a child be unable to return home because their situation hasn’t improved - we can transition him or her to one of our five residential homes in Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, ensuring a continuity of care as well as a higher rate of success. Our long-term residences provide family-style living combined with individualized care from a professional married couple called Family-Teachers.
The children are expected to live as a family member, sharing household responsibilities, attending school and learning to develop positive peer and adult relationships.
In 2003, our Residential Family Services program provided treatment and care to 56 children who each stayed at one of family homes an average of 10 months. The average age at admission was 15. More than 90 percent of our residents had come from placements outside of their family home. At three months following departure from our Long-Term Residential Program, 88 percent of our kids were attending school, 82 percent had no drug or alcohol problems, 91percent had not been arrested, 80 percent had positive peer relationships and 90 percent said the program had a positive impact on their lives. |
