California’s Family-Based Services Receives $25,000 Grant
A $25,000 grant from the PIMCO Foundation will boost Boys Town of California’s Family-Based Services program, an integral aspect of Boys Town’s strategic plan.
"We are deeply honored to receive such tremendous support from our community partner,” said Keith Rhodes, Boys Town of California Executive Director. “PIMCO’s support makes it possible for many struggling children and families to find healing and hope through Father Flanagan's dreams. PIMCO shows it's commitment to our society one child at time. "
This grant, the largest of three consecutive grants the Family-Based Services Program has received annually from the Newport Beach, Calif.-based fund-management company, will help Boys Town expand it’s continuum of care throughout California. The strategic plan emphasizes family-based programs, which are also a focus of California’s child welfare system. Family-Based consultants work with families to help them provide a safe environment for their children.
Family-Based Services, which began operating in California in 1991 and served nearly 700 families in 2006, provides trained consultants to help families whose children are at risk for placement outside their home, generally because of abuse or neglect.
