Boys Town of Texas

Local children and adults pitched in to help bring a brighter place for hurting kids to live, play and learn skills for a brighter tomorrow.

Work Groups Help to Beautify Boys Town Texas

New paint and fresh landscaping brought new vitality to Boys Town Texas this summer, thanks to the efforts of local volunteers.

“Our volunteers do tremendous work beautifying our site as well as modeling great relationships for our kids,” said Wade Rascoe, Boys Town Texas Executive Director.

Fred Lueck, Boys Town Texas Board member and employee of Zachry Construction Corporation, along with volunteers from the company, painted two Boys Town Texas residential homes.

David Cole, chairman of the site’s Leadership Development Committee, invited the St. Helena Episcopal Church youth group to help revive the prayer garden and spruce up the grounds surrounding the residential homes.

At the downtown site, Cathy and Dan Rourke, long-time supporters of Boys Town Texas, arranged for Texas Allied Landscape and Manuel’s Tree Service to provide necessary tree, bush and grass trimming.  Cathy also serves on the Leadership Development Committee.

“It has been an awesome experience, and our thanks go to all who have participated,” Rascoe said.  “We will enjoy the grounds we are blessed with and care for them as we would our own home.”

In appreciation for their hard work, volunteers enjoyed a barbeque lunch with Boys Town foster care parents and youth.
