Texas Celebrates 90th Anniversary and Holiday Season
Boys Town Texas threw a 90th Anniversary bash like no other, complete with a Mexican dinner of tamales, rice, beans, queso and cake.
All of the kids, Joe Ortega, a ’47 alumnus, and board members anxiously awaited the beginning of the milestone celebration. After the site welcomed its newest citizens at a swearing-in ceremony, the campus Christmas tree lit up the sky. The surprises continued as white and blue balloons were released into the sky as the banner was unfurled, astonishing the crowd with the revitalized Boys Town brand.
“We chose white and blue balloons to represent the old image,” said Elizabeth Collet, Director of Development for Boys Town Texas. “We dropped them at the same time we unraveled the banner to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new.

Excitement for the revitalized image was evident among the kids and board members as they enjoyed a piece of birthday cake.
Ortega, who is also a volunteer at Boys Town, thinks going back to the original Boys Town is a good idea. “Now people know this is the one and only Boys Town, founded by Father Flanagan.”
