International Youth Convention Visits Boys Town Texas

The International Youth Convention (IYC) of the Church of God worked hard and played hard during their July 16 visit to Boys Town Texas.

“It was a great experience for all involved,” said Janet Pedrotti, Boys Town Texas Volunteer Coordinator. “We appreciate the IYC’s help in making our campus a beautiful place to live and work.”

Two groups from the IYC volunteered their time and effort to help and entertain Boys Town Texas youth, and Godfather’s Pizza, Boys Town’s sole national sponsor, also joined in the fun, donating food for the event. The First Church of God from Mansfield, Ohio, brought a group to help with landscaping and Florida Christian band, New Way, held a concert for youth and families.

“The kids just loved the concert,” said Pedrotti. “It was neat to see our youth gather inspiration from their peers.”

The IYC arrived in San Antonio July 14 and left on July 17 after sending more than 6,000 students and their leaders out into the community to complete various volunteer projects. Since 1992, the IYC has been held biennially in major cities across the United States, contributing an estimated $500,000 in volunteer labor to host cities.
