A newly signed Boys Town New York Board of Trustees will help the organization grow its programs and services to meet the needs of the city's children and families.
"We now have local leaders who can help carry out our mission and 'change the way America cares for her children,'" said Anthony DiLauro, Boys Town New York Executive Director. "This board will drive the direction of our future and help us overcome obstacles when we start to expand our programs." The first board meeting will be held in January 2007.
The first six board members include Alan Guarino, CEO of Cornell Strategic Partners; Ira Fishman, Executive Vice President of Winoker Realty; Vince Gelardi, Attorney; Dan Ionescu, AIA, President of Dan Ionescu Architects; Richard Murray, Consultant for Grupo Nacional Provincial; and Stefan Shanni, Vice President of Global Commercial Markets of Citigroup.
Each board member will use his expertise to assist the organization. They say it is very exciting to be able to contribute to the cause and hope to benefit Boys Town New York with their knowledge.
"Boys Town provides a service that is in dire need and achieves the best 'results' in this field," said Guarino, Boys Town New York Board Chairman. "The kids we help get a great start on new opportunities in life. What's better than that?"
"I am here not only to support a cause that our society needs to pay attention to, but also to assist in creating a new vision for the organization, in giving these youngsters a hope that their reintegration in the society will be rewarding to themselves as well as to all of us as a culture," said Ionescu.
Though Boys Town New York is in the process of adding more members to its board, signing the first six means funds and donations can now be designated specifically to the New York site. Plans to build a larger community for youth are also underway-a project sure to happen with such driven people standing behind it.
"I'm excited to see so many professionals in New York who are looking for ways to help children," said DiLauro. "Though they all come from different expertise, one thing they all have in common is their affinity to help youth."
