Community Leaders Support Boys Town New York

Local leaders are helping to carry out the mission of Boys Town New York, changing the way America cares for her children.

On Jan. 25, the site's newly formed Board of Trustees held its first meeting, and set goals of expanding services and reaching more children and families in need of assistance.

"I'm excited to see so many professionals in New York who are looking for ways to help children," said Anthony DiLauro, Boys Town New York's Executive Director. "Though they all come from different areas of expertise, the one thing they all have in common is their affinity to help youth."

"Boys Town is an organization that achieves the best results in this field and yet is still in dire need," said Alan Guarino, Chairman of the Board. "The kids we help get a great start on new opportunities in life. What can be better than that?"

The first six local leaders to join the Board include Mr. Alan Guarino, CEO of Cornell Strategic Partners, who will serve as Board Chairman, Mr. Vince Gelardi, Attorney-at-Law, who will serve as the Secretary of the Board, Mr. Ira Fishman, Executive Vice President of Winoker Realty, Mr. Dan Ionescu, AIA, President of Dan Ionescu Architects, Mr. Stefan Shanni, Vice President of Global Commercial Markets for Citigroup, and Mr. Richard Murray, a consultant for Grupo Nacional Provincial, and longtime supporter of Boys Town.

"I am here not only to support a cause that our society needs to pay attention to, but also to assist in creating a new vision for the organization, in giving these youngsters a hope that their reintegration in the society will be rewarding to themselves as well as to all of us as a culture," said Dan Ionescu, President of Dan Ionescu Architects.

Boys Town New York is one of 10 Boys Town sites to create a local Board of Trustees.
