Gospel Bruch Raises Funds, Awareness for Louisiana Youth
A unique event combining New Orleans gospel music and culinary traditions provided help, healing and hope to severely at-risk Boys Town Louisiana youth Aug. 18.
“Hope and Healing for Children A Gospel Brunch,” coordinated by Dr. Daniel Ajemeseba, Freeport McMoRan External Development Manager and Boys Town Louisiana Board member, raised funds and awareness for programs offered at Boys Town Louisiana.
“I love the work Boys Town Louisiana is doing for God’s children,” said Ajemeseba who performed gospel songs “Great Is Thou Faithful,” and “Surely Goodness and Mercy,” on guitar and harmonica.
The event, underwritten by Valero Energy St. Charles Refinery with donations matched by Freeport McMoRan, introduced Boys Town Louisiana to the River Parish Community and St. Charles Parish Public Schools System.
“Boys Town Louisiana is a very impressive organization and the brunch was a wonderful event,” said Jerry L. Smith, St. Charles Parish Public Schools Social Worker/Liaison. “I am glad I was able to attend.”
The 70 guests who attended the event at Ormond Country Club enjoyed a home-style southern buffet and the gospel sounds of Minister Gordon Taylor and the St. Matthew Baptist Church Choir of New Sarpy, La. After learning more about all Boys Town does to help severely at-risk youth, all agreed to make the Gospel Brunch an annual event.
