New Orleans Community Sparks Support for Boys Town Louisiana

A fund-raising dinner at Salvatore’s Ristorante in Metairie, La., allowed the Jefferson Parish community to show its appreciation for Boys Town Louisiana youth and raise $1,500 for the organization that saves children and heals families.

Invited by Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard, 53 directors and managers of Jefferson Parish Government Ignites SPARKS (Supporting the Potential for At Risk Kids) paid $50 each to support Boys Town Louisiana while enjoying a delicious meal prepared by Chef Saul Bollot.

“Boys Town is a program that fills a vital need in our community and its continuation needs public support,” said Broussard. “I encourage anyone to get to know the Boys Town system better by meeting the children who benefit from the program, as evidenced by the success of the boys who come out of the program.”

“This is your night,” Bollot told the children. “We are here to support you and help meet your needs.”

For many guests in attendance the event’s highlight came when Anthony, a Boys Town Louisiana youth, spoke about his Boys Town experience. He said Boys Town is helping him become the man God created him to be.

“It’s incredible how this event went from a fundraising dinner benefiting Boys Town Louisiana to an appreciation dinner for our youth,” said Germaine Mitchell, Boys Town Louisiana Development Director. “A very special night it was indeed for the young men of Boys Town Louisiana.”
