College World Series Hits Home Runs for Boys Town Youth

As the College World Series takes the plate in Omaha, two big league national companies are scoring a home run for Boys Town youth.

Coca-Cola, an NCAA national corporate sponsor, teamed with local Wal-Mart stores to collect donated baseball gloves for Boys Town youth. The gloves will be given to the children after the collection concludes on June 25. Donors can visit any local Wal-Mart to give baseball gloves or other sporting equipment.

"We are very grateful to Coca-Cola and Wal-Mart for thinking of our Boys Town kids and coordinating this collection," said Robinson, Boys Town Athletic Director. "It is simple things, like baseball gloves, that can really have an impact and create happy memories for the kids."

Robinson, Jordan Ridder, Boys Town Mayor, and Robert LaBron, Vice-Mayor, attended the College World Series opening ceremonies to acknowledge the donation.

The College World Series also selected the baseball field at the Village of Boys Town as one of four official practice sites for the competition, along with Creighton University, Omaha Westside and Bellevue East High School.

"The College World Series is always an exciting time throughout Omaha each year," said Herb Hames, Boys Town Senior Development Officer and College World Series ticket chair. "Knowing that our Boys Town kids are benefiting makes it even more special."

The College World Series runs June 15 through June 24 or 25, with eight teams battling it out for the NCAA Division I men's baseball championship.
