Boys Town Cowboys Featured in Qwest Center Shootout Saturday, Feb. 10

In the first high-profile showcase event of its kind in Nebraska or Iowa, the Boys Town Cowboys will be featured in the "Omaha Shootout" Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Qwest Center in Downtown Omaha.

"This is a tremendous honor for our boys basketball team and our music department to be selected to take part in this event," said Boys Town Director of Athletics Brent Robinson. "Boys Town is a special place and this is a special opportunity to be able to play a basketball game in the largest indoor venue for sports in the State of Nebraska."

The Shootout pairs twelve teams from across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Florida, in a six-game high school basketball feature event. This year's Shootout includes four defending state champion teams, including the Boys Town Cowboys.

Florida powerhouse Montverde Academy from near Orlando will also take part in the Shootout. The team is currently 23-0 and ranked No. 8 in USA Today's national poll. Click here to read more about the teams and the pairings featured in the Shootout.

Thanks to the generosity of the Boys Town Boosters and the Omaha Shootout, Boys Town students and staff will be able to cheer on their home team in force. "It will be fun for our youth, family teachers and staff to enjoy watching our Cowboys play in a big time setting with some of the best teams in the state, region and country," said Robinson.

Boys Town Band Director Dick Keiser will perform the National Anthem for the event with a select instrumental ensemble of Boys Town youth. They will perform the Anthem prior to the Boys Town game at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Omaha Shootout are $16 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission, and are available through Ticketmaster and Qwest Center Box Office. Reserved seats in special blocks are available at each Nebraska and Iowa participating school. Student general-admission tickets for $7 are only available at the participating schools prior to the event.
