Kellogg Company Makes Christmas Extra Special for Boys Town Youth
Kellogg Company employees' were busy this Christmas season helping make it a merry one for Boys Town youth.
Employees at Kellogg's Omaha plant used money from the Employee Benefit Fund to fill 72 boxes with Christmas gifts -- one for each Boys Town home.
"We all often take for granted what we get and what we give," said Belinda Weidner, an accountant with Kellogg's. "So we committed to filling a box for every house."
"We sincerely appreciate the tremendous generosity of Kellogg's employees," said Robert Pick, Boys Town Director of Home Campus. "This is overwhelming."
Six Kellogg's employees - Darin Torosian, Alicia Dostal, Jewels Sandoval, Kelley Gutchewsky, Julie Radowski and Belinda Weidner - delivered the gifts to Home Campus Dec. 21. With the help of Boys Town youth Keith, Detrick and Wes, all 72 boxes came off the U-Haul truck.
"It was really reassuring to come to Boys Town and see firsthand how much the gifts are appreciated," said Torosian. "I have never seen so many people excited to lift big, heavy boxes off a truck."
Boxes filled with books, sporting goods, games and other Christmas goodies purchased at area Wal-Marts, Barnes and Noble book stores and Dick's Sporting Goods filled Pick's office. When store managers knew the gifts were for Boys Town youth, many gave additional discounts.
"We have a very diverse work force at Kellogg's but everyone came to a consensus to buy gifts for Boys Town," said Weidner. "The support we received from each store helped make this so successful."
