Boys Town Georgia Celebrates Birthday by Awarding Youth
With more than 60 guests, Boys Town Georgia celebrated 90 years of changing the way America cares for her children Dec. 12 by recognizing those who dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children.
At the event where Boys Town’s revitalized brand, “Boys Town, Saving Children, Healing Families,” was revealed, Sonja Tobler, Boys Town Georgia Site Director, honored dedicated staff and children. Awards were presented to Michelle Leslie, Youth Care Worker of the Year; Mellisa Moncree, Youth Care Worker Character Award; and Ms. Margretha King, Teacher of the Year. Tobler also recognized top performing students in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Character.
“I am very blessed to have such a dedicated management team of staff and teachers here at Boys Town Georgia,” said Tobler. “It is their support and the support of community leaders that make this a great organization.”
After recognizing these dedicated individuals, Boys Town Georgia youth recited poems and essays they wrote themselves about the difference Boys Town Georgia has made in their lives.
Supporters, advisory board members, donors, caseworkers, staff and Boys Town Georgia youth celebrated the big day with a piece of cake and refreshments after the cheers quieted down.
“The youth and guests were very pleased with the new brand, which was evident through the applause,” said Tobler. “This revitalized brand offers great opportunities for growth and expansion of youth care services for Boys Town.”
