Boys Town of Chicago Aids Youth and Families with Event
Boys Town of Chicago raised significant funds to benefit at-riskchildren and families in the Back of the Yards community at their second annual event, Going the Extra Yard: Tackling Tough Issues Today for the Stars of Tomorrow, on June 12. “We’re excited to see what the future holds for our Boys Town Home, Casa Tepeyac,” said Michelle LaGroue, Boys Town of Chicago Development Director. “The funds we’ve raised with this event will allow us to help even more youth.” Chicago Mayor Richard Daley was in attendance, along with Illinois State Senator Tony Munoz, State Representative Esther Golar, members of the Chicago Police Department and more than 400 other guests. Daley spoke at the event, noting the positive work done by Father Bruce Wellems, Boys Town of Chicago Executive Director, and sharing the accomplishments of several Boys Town youth whom he had personally met. “Mayor Daley believes in the work we are doing at Boys Town of Chicago,” said LaGroue. “He’s from Chicago’s south side and takes a personal interest in what Father Bruce and Boys Town of Chicago are accomplishing in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.” The money raised by the event will directly benefit the children and families of Boys Town of Chicago through the Intervention and Assessment Home, Casa Tepeyac, which helps at-risk children in the Back of the Yards community. This area on the southwest side of Chicago is making important improvements with the help of Boys Town programs. |
