Volunteers Make All the Difference
More than 80 volunteers brought a giving spirit to Boys Town Central Florida for a day of mission work Oct. 6.
Volunteers from River Run Christian Church and the University of Central Florida’s “Knights Give Back” program spent the day painting, landscaping and completing other jobs on the campus. Knights Give Back student volunteers got Boys Town children in the Halloween spirit by helping them make spooky decorations. The interactions help kids understand the spirit of giving to others.
“Both of these organizations are long-time partners with us and the children love the positive interaction with the volunteers,” said Terry Knox, Boys Town Central Florida Director of Development. “To the kids, the student volunteers are their older brothers and sisters.”
Not only did the volunteers and children enjoy the day, but projects that needed completing were done quickly something for which Boys Town Central Florida is extremely grateful.
“Without partners, it would be difficult for organizations like Boys Town to provide all that is needed for at-risk children,” said Knox. “This day is a good experience and just a good thing for the children.”
